Have you seen a type 3 barricade that is a color besides white? I recently posted about arrow boards and the fact that I have never seen one with colors other than yellow. When I say white, I am talking about the actual color of the boards.
There are type 3 plywood barricades out there, but from what I remember they are all painted while. The legs, if they are steel, seem to be some sort of silver color while the plastic legs are always white.
Type 3 Barricade Terms
There are about a million terms (ok I exaggerated) when it comes to a type 3 barricade. When I first entered the industry, I figured there are most likely one or two different terms that people call a product in the traffic safety industry.
Here are some examples of traffic barricade terms - type 1 barricade, traffic barricade, construction barricade, the list goes on and on. Using a search tool may be the most effective way of knowing what terms are used the most.
Type 3 Barricades On Highway
If driving around the highway this summer, you have a good chance to see some type 3 barricades. It may confuse you though, because sometimes the type 3 barricades are not wide. When I think of type 3 barricades I think of a barricade that is around 8-10 feet wide.
Traffic barricades are the general term, and type 3 barricades are the more specific term, when talking about barricades. Parade barricades are mostly there for pedestrians.
Type 3 Barricade - What are the Types?
There are a few different types when it comes to a type 3 barricade. You can get it in plastic or plywood, usually. They can also either be a permanent or temporary solution, depending on the job.
Other options include reflective tape, width of the boards, and which way you want the reflective tape to slant. Either way, make sure whoever you buy from has the option you are looking for because if they don’t, I am sure you can find another supplier that has that option.
Type 3 Barricades Replacing Drums?
Driving this past weekend I noticed that there was an immense amount of type 3 barricades. They seemed to be everywhere, in front of arrow boards, next to traffic message boards, and just along the road next to a construction project.
I noticed that a lot of times the type 3 barricades were in spots where the traffic drums usually were. I am not sure if this is a new trend or if it makes it safer?
What not to know about Type 3 Barricades
The title may be confusing, but that was on purpose. There isn’t anything not to know about type 3 barricades, we should really know everything we can about them because they are on our streets protecting our citizens.
The amount of construction I have seen on the road lately is immense. Whether the jump is because of the American Recovery Project of 2009 or not, I am not sure. The one thing I know is I have never seen so many type 3 barricades.
Type 3 Barricades On The Road
What is a type 3 barricade? Type 3 barricades are traffic barricades with three boards across the front. They are commonly used to ‘barricade’ traffic so that it does not go in a certain area.
There are many variation of traffic barricades that you may see on the road. You may see construction or plastic barricades, for instance. Honestly, the only way to know all of them, is to be in the traffic safety industry.
Type 3 Barricades with Issues
If your type 3 barricades have issues, well you should get them resolved. Traffic barricades of that type tend to run around $100 or more, so they are a little expensive to just be looking at.
I would first contact your distributor if you are having a problem with your type 3 barricade. Then, I would talk to your supplier if the distributor doesn’t help you out.
Type 3 Barricade Concerns
Have concerns about a type 3 barricade you recently purchased? Well, I hope you didn’t get them online because that is a lot of money to ship them back! Just kidding, the supplier/distributor you got them from should be able to fund you for shipping them back.
It is always important to check with your traffic safety supplier to see what their particular rules are regarding returns. I mean lets face it, who wants to spend $100’s shipping something back when they don’t have to?
Type 3 Barricades What’s the Difference?
If one was searching for type 3 barricades they may wonder, what is the difference between these traffic barricades? For example there are type 1 barricades, type 2 barricades and then type 3. There are a couple difference but there is one that is the most obvious.
A type 3 barricade has 3 boards across it, a type 2 has two boards and a type 1 has one board. Type 3 are usually wider than type 1 or two. I also notice that type 3 is commonly used to block off roads.
