There could be many different questions or queries when it comes to buying a type 3 barricade. Where can they be found? There are traffic safety stores that are local, but they are usually quite expensive. Try searching on the internet to find better pricing.
How much do type 3 barricades costs? It depends on a couple different things, but I would say an average price is around $120. How wide are they? They can be between 4 and 10 feet wide, depending on what the supplier offers.
Traffic Cone Weights?
A traffic cone can either be made a specific weight that is suitable for a particular job, or it can have weights put on top of the base in order to keep it down. Traffic cones may need to be a certain weight for a variety of reasons. It could be that you need them to stay up to high winds.
It could be that you need them to stay up even when hit by a car, though less likely. To explore the different weight options, first find out the weight of the cone and then the accessories they offer in order to increase the weight of the traffic cone and keep it down.
Powers of Solar Barricade Lights
When you look on the internet and in traffic safety catalogs, you may notice there are a couple different types of solar barricade lights. There are type b solar barricade lights, and regular solar barricade lights.
Regular solar barricade lights are not powered by as many LEDs as type b solar barricade lights. Type b solar barricade lights are considered ‘hi intensity’ and produce enough light to be seen during the day as well as during the night.
Traffic Drums are Everywhere!
Summer means construction season, and construction season means miles and miles of traffic drums, delineator posts, traffic cones, traffic message boards, etc. It is easy to get frustrated or annoyed by them, but it’s important to know they are there for a reason. They are there for your safety.
Traffic drums provide a barricade between construction and cars and trucks. They sometimes have barricade lights on top of them to make them easier to see during the night. They are their for your safety, not annoyance!
Traffic Drum Questions and Concerns PT II
This post is a continue-um to the post on Tuesday talking about different traffic drum questions one may stumble upon and want answered prior to buying the traffic drums. ‘Grade’ is a term referring to the reflective tape option on traffic drums. Engineer Grade is the most common, Hi Intensity Grade is the next most common and Diamond Grade is the most rare.
Reflective tape is the reflective sheeting that is put on different traffic safety equipment to make it more visible at night. And the base option for your traffic drum really depends on what the manufacturer offers, but something between 2 and 40lbs is where most of them are. Bases can either be thrown over the top of the drum or snapped on.
Feet Type 3 Barricades
One may think that you would just buy a type 3 barricade and stand it up. It isn’t as easy as that, because type 3 barricades have the option of coming with feet or not coming with feet. Why would someone buy a type 3 barricade without feet?
There may be a need to make the barricade permanent. Maybe it’s blocking a bridge which is going to be out of order indefinitely or something of that nature, but because of this need for it to be permanent the type 3 barricade may not need feet, but need to be mounted to the ground.
Colors of Solar Barricade Lights
There are only three different lens colors for solar barricade lights that I know of. There is blue, red and yellow. Yellow is by far the most common, probably accounts for 85% of the industry sales.
Red solar barricade lights are most common in airport construction sites. Not all red solar barricade lights are FAA approved so it’s important to look into that. Blue solar barricade lights are by far the least common, they are almost impossible to find.
Traffic Message Board Branding
There are a few different brands of traffic message boards that I know of, but the differences between the brands is not too great. When researching your traffic message board try to focus more on the options available and less on the brand.
There are arrow boards and there are traffic message boards. Traffic message boards have messages that are displayed on the LED screen, arrow boards are just simply arrows that are on the LED screen.
Solar Barricade Light Questions
There are many questions when it comes to solar barricade lights. Are they better than battery powered lights? Are they brighter? Do they last longer?
Well, to answer some of these questions, they typically have more LEDs. This means they are more efficient with the power they use and they are typically brighter. They also typically last 3+ years without changing the battery, where a battery powered barricade light takes around 2 months to run out of batteries.
Injured Traffic Drums
If you have a traffic drum that has been run over it may be a good idea to look into ways to get it bent back to its original shape. Traffic drums are very durable, but if they have been hit by a car they may be dented. There are products out there that can take the dent out of hte traffic drum.
Anytime you have an issue with a traffic drum, I would first recommend calling the company you bought them from. Chances are you bought them from a distributor, so if they don’t have the answer try reading the label on the drum to see if there is any info about where it was manufactured. They typically have a better knowledge of their products.
