Some of my fondest childhood memories revolved around family camping trips, or, more specifically, the car rides on the way to those camping trips. My dad fit the traditional American father archetype – hard working, stern, a man of few words. He let his hair down a bit during family vacations, but he just couldn’t shed a few of his workaday habits. For instance, he was monomaniacal in his obsession with making good time on the road.
We would pile into the family station wagon early in the morning as mom handed us insulated travel mugs filled with hot cocoa. Mere moments after the engine turned over, dad would be complaining about traffic – whether there were traffic message boards blinking on every corner or just four other cars sharing the road. The situation was confounded further by his propensity to get lost without ever admitting it. Years later, our entire family has come to realize that the time spent in that car was precious. It really was more about the journey than the destination.
Solar Barricade Lights Online
Here are some tips when searching for solar barricade lights online. First, let me start by saying the websites at the top of the results in search engines are not always the cheapest. I would recommended at least going to the 2nd page (11 or more results) when looking for barricade lights.
Also, if you are searching for a specific type of barricade light, type that exact name into the engine. You may find that there are different results, which may be cheaper, when you get more specific.
Type 3 Barricades On The Road
What is a type 3 barricade? Type 3 barricades are traffic barricades with three boards across the front. They are commonly used to ‘barricade’ traffic so that it does not go in a certain area.
There are many variation of traffic barricades that you may see on the road. You may see construction or plastic barricades, for instance. Honestly, the only way to know all of them, is to be in the traffic safety industry.
Traffic Cone with or without Base?
I decided to bring up the topic of traffic cone bases because there seems to be some confusion. It depends on who makes the product, but generally, the traffic cones are made in a way that they do not need bases.
The way it works is the traffic cones are heavy enough so that they do not need bases. Of course you can always add bases to your cones if you want to but it will cost extra money to buy those bases.
Solar Barricade Lights – How ‘Proof’ Are They?
Sitting in my office today I can hear the trickle of the rain behind me, and it made me think, at what point is bad weather too much for solar barricade lights? We all know they need a good amount of sunlight to get them started, but what about being too hot, or too cold?
Rain should never be an issue with a barricade light. They are designed so that they do not let water into the important components. The problem can be temperature, if it gets below zero where you plan on having them you may want to do a little bid more research and see if your lights can handle that temperature.
Traffic Drum Queries
Have a query about a traffic drum? You can post the question below and I will get to it as soon as possible. It really is not as easy as one may expect when it comes to shopping for traffic drums.
Think about it, you first need to make sure it meets all state and federal specs depending on the job site. Then you have to worry about reflective sheeting and bases. And after you have all that figured out, you need to find the cheapest one.
Type 3 Barricades with Issues
If your type 3 barricades have issues, well you should get them resolved. Traffic barricades of that type tend to run around $100 or more, so they are a little expensive to just be looking at.
I would first contact your distributor if you are having a problem with your type 3 barricade. Then, I would talk to your supplier if the distributor doesn’t help you out.
Solar Barricade Lights – New Trend
A look at the stats on keyword usage on Google and other search engines and you will realize that solar is a hot new word. Now, there are not only solar barricade lights but there are also solar traffic lights, solar stop signs, solar arrow boards, etc. The list goes on and on.
With these solar products it is important to do research to find out how ‘green’ they actually are. Sometimes you will find that the processes that needs to take place to make these products is not as ‘green’ as the overall use of the entire original product.
Type 3 Barricade Concerns
Have concerns about a type 3 barricade you recently purchased? Well, I hope you didn’t get them online because that is a lot of money to ship them back! Just kidding, the supplier/distributor you got them from should be able to fund you for shipping them back.
It is always important to check with your traffic safety supplier to see what their particular rules are regarding returns. I mean lets face it, who wants to spend $100′s shipping something back when they don’t have to?
Traffic Drum Varieties
Did you know that traffic drums can come in black? Yes, believe it or not in colder environments where there is a lot of snow they use black drums because they are easier to see.
And, in case you didn’t know, there are yellow traffic drums as well. These are best when used for blockading cement barriers or protecting cars against exit ramps.
