Solar Barricade Light Questions
There are many questions when it comes to solar barricade lights. Are they better than battery powered lights? Are they brighter? Do they last longer?
Well, to answer some of these questions, they typically have more LEDs. This means they are more efficient with the power they use and they are typically brighter. They also typically last 3+ years without changing the battery, where a battery powered barricade light takes around 2 months to run out of batteries.
Solar Barricade Lights are Eco-Friendly
Why are solar barricade lights better for the environment than battery powered barricade lights? Well, quite obviously, they are more environmentally friendly because you are not throwing anything out with solar barricade lights.
With battery powered barricade lights you most likely will be disposing your batteries every 2 months. Disposing batteries is not environmentally friendly because of the chemicals inside of the battery. Another great thing about solar powered barricade lights is that you don’t have to hire someone to go out and change the batteries, therefore saving you money.

Solar Powered Barricade Lights
What is the difference between a solar and a battery powered barricade light? Well, price for one thing. It can cost as much as $35 for a solar barricade light, versus $15 or so for a battery powered barricade light.
Of course, you don’t end up paying as much in batteries when you go solar, but there are other things to worry about. If you purchase solar powered barricade lights and they break from vandalism or just a car hitting it, you are down $35 versus the $15 if it were battery powered. Choosing which light depends on your situation, always choose wisely.
Barricade Lights – Industry Features
Most people would think there is just one type of barricade light, but the truth is there are many. There are solar barricade lights, battery powered barricade lights, dome shaped lens barricade lights, d-cell barricade lights, 6 volt barricade lights etc. One type of barricade light is both solar and battery powered, what happens is the sun will trickle charge the batteries because it goes through the solar panel.
These trickle charged barricade lights are good if you want to replace batteries less, but don’t want to pay the upfront cost of a fully solar barricade light. Amber lens barricade lights are by far the most common, but red lens and blue lens are also available. Red lens barricade lights are most popular among airport construction projects, and blue barricade lights are most popular among railroads.
