These sand barrels have been tested and certified to meet the crash requirements of NCHRP-350.
This impact attenuator sand barrel is easy to move around and has external writing to show the right weight of sand to use. Different barrel combinations are used to make all the weights used in the current standard array geometries (200, 400, 700, 1400, and 2100 lbs). External sand weight verification is not hard — use the correct configuration barrel to obtain the right weight. Each sand container is one piece with no edge seals, so there is no leaking sand to worry about. There are no cone inserts so shipping, storing and installation is easy. There is an optional lifting and dumping ring available — barrel shoulder allows for easy emptying and lifting.
