Barricade Lights Brand
There are many different types of barricade lights. There are different brands, different options such as voltage, solar or battery powered, and different size batteries. Some of the brands of barricade lights include Collt and Empco.
Collt barricade lights are strictly one type, 6 volt battery powered. They do not carry d cell options or any sort of solar option. Empco has a wide selection of barricade lights such as 6 volt, d cell, type d, type a and c, solar assist, type b, etc.
Solar Barricade Lights are Eco-Friendly
Why are solar barricade lights better for the environment than battery powered barricade lights? Well, quite obviously, they are more environmentally friendly because you are not throwing anything out with solar barricade lights.
With battery powered barricade lights you most likely will be disposing your batteries every 2 months. Disposing batteries is not environmentally friendly because of the chemicals inside of the battery. Another great thing about solar powered barricade lights is that you don’t have to hire someone to go out and change the batteries, therefore saving you money.
How to find the best deal on solar barricade lights
If you are looking for the best prices on solar barricade lights, you have to think of a few different things. First off, realize that local stores will typically inflate the price because they know there is not many places you can find these solar barricade lights. When comparing online vs offline prices, check to see what the shipping costs are.
Some websites post really high prices but when you call then will bring them down, almost automatically. Also, a lot of websites do not post quantity discounts, you have to call to see what they can do for you. More info to come on getting a great price on your next set of lights.
Solar Powered Barricade Lights – A New Trend
There is no doubt that there is a general movement toward being more ‘green’ on this planet, but some skeptics do exist. I will admit, when solar panels and hybrid vehicles started to come into the market, I always wondered if they did more harm than people realized. There have been claims that making a Toyota Prius produces enough pollution that the increase in gas milage isn’t worth it.
I had this same skepticism when I heard about solar powered barricade lights. I saw the strange shape (compared to battery powered lights) and the high price, and dismissed them thinking they would never catch on. I was wrong because I didn’t give them enough of a chance. If you look at one of my previous posts, I show that solar powered barricade lights are actually more economical over a 3 year outlook compared with batter powered barricade lights. The fact that you don’t have to hire someone to go out and change batteries, and you don’t have to buy new batteries or pay disposal fees makes them even better.
What’s the difference between solar and battery powered barricade lights?
The first thing people notice is price, solar powered barricade lights usually cost 2 to 3 times more than battery powered lights. But, when looking at cost you have to take into consideration the expense of batteries. Typically, you have to change batteries in the battery powered lights every 2 to 3 months, costing around $2.95 per battery, and changing it 4 times per year would cost you an extra $12 per year. Solar barricade lights should last at least three years, so take $12×3 and you get an extra $36 for battery barricade lights! Keep in mind the market value of a solar barricade light is $34, and a battery powered light is $15, so after three years you would have spent a total of $51 on battery powered lights, versus just $34 for solar powered lights.
Of course, there are instances where it makes more sense to get battery powered lights because you may use the lights once and then not need them again. But some other points in favor of solar is the fact that you don’t have to have someone go out and change the batteries, reducing labor costs. It is better for the environment because you aren’t throwing away batteries and you aren’t paying disposal fees. In the end, it depends on the job, but solar powered barricade lights are always a better long-term decision.
